When I think of summer, I think of sunbaked cobblestones, olive trees, and cobalt blue waters - in short, Greece.
This year, I wanted to discover an island off the well-trodden tourist track, and Anafi fit this bill. Anafi is a Cycladic island that truly seems like the edge of the world. Despite feeling incredibly remote, the island fosters a unique sense of connection. With less than 300 year-round residents, the summer months see a burst of life. Travellers here seek an authentic Greek summer and slow living, and that is what I experienced while staying at Apollon Village Hotel.
In a nutshell: Aegean bolthole far from the madding crowd. Escape the Santorini bustle and enjoy tranquility at this boutique hotel nestled into the heart of Anafi. We stayed in the glorious Aphrodite Suite, with panoramic ocean views and our own pool.
Loved: breakfasts with local produce (special shout out to the spectacular Anafi honey), traditional Cycladic architecture, minimalist design, and unobstructed views of the Aegean.
Location: Apollon Village Hotel is located a 5 minute drive from both Chora and the port, and a walk away from sandy Klisidi Beach (not to mention the delicious Margarita Restaurant). Although there are public buses, I recommend hiring a car to explore the island at your own pace (the hotel offers car rental). Most of the best swimming beaches are located on the southern end of the island, and we had so much fun driving these winding roads - particularly to Agioi Anargiri beach.
